London Korean Film Night: The Blue in You
Two department store window display decorators find themselves to be perfectly matched professionally but, as they gradually fall in love, it becomes increasingly more difficult for them to work well together.
Famous at the time for being one of the first “feminist” Korean movies, ‘The Blue in You’ provides a splendid showcase for its lead actress, Kang Soo-yeon, here teamed with the industry’s biggest male star, Ahn Sung-ki. Kang plays businesswoman Yu-rim, who has a strong-minded approach to both her career and her love life. When she meets photographer Ho-seok (Ahn), who is an equally uncompromising character, sparks fly; but even though their viewpoints differ on almost every aspect of life, they can’t seem to stay apart from each other. Ho-seok finally goes to Italy to study – but Yu-rim finds she can’t get him out of her mind.
