Jun Sung Ahn and Fellow Youtubers Visited the Philippines for Youtube Fanfest

South Korean Youtuber Jun Sung Ahn popularly known as Juncurryahn visited the country and performed in front of thousands of Filipinos on Youtube Fanfest Philippines 2017 that was held at the World Trade Center last May 12. Youtube stars such as Alex Wassabi, Janina Vela, Jayden Rodrigues, Kristel Fulgar, LaurDIY, Lilly Singh, Lloyd Café Cadena, Matt Steffanina, Megan Nicole, Mikey Bustos, Ranz Kyle and Niana Guerrero and Wil Dasovich were also present at the event.

During the Press Conference, we were given a chance to ask him a question. We asked him the story behind BGA. According to Jun, Boys Generally Asian is a group of Asian Youtubers who formed a K-Pop group. The idea of creating a group came from Ryan Higa and David Choi who’ve been wanting to make K-Pop parodies. Ryan reached out to his friends from Wong Fu Productions and that’s when Justin Chon and Philip Wang joined the group. But they needed another member who has more experience on doing K-Pop and that’s when Ryan picked the last member which was Jun Sung Ahn. We also asked him if he knows that Kpoopers (BGA’s fandom name) were shipping him and Justin and does he thinks about it. He told us that it was just a concept though because of it, he became closer with Justin.

On the main show, Jun played a violin cover of BGA’s second single “Who’s it gonna be?” which climbed on top of music charts as soon as it was released, beating some songs from famous K-Pop groups. Before his second act, he took a video with the crowd and according to him, he will show it to the members of his group to show how big BGA is, in the Philippines. His encore performance was a violin cover of “Beautiful” which is an OST of the Korea drama “Goblin.”

With Jun and BGA’s popularity in the Philippines, Filipino Kpoopers are asking for a tour or a fan meet. Let’s keep on supporting them, and who knows, Youtube might make it come true on the next Youtube Fanfest in Manila.
