Drawing from within Part 1
The Art Pavilion is proud to present “Drawing from Within” Part 1 by Sandra Beccarelli, Anna Jung Seo and Bindi Nicholls, all of whom share a fascination with the processes of making art. This exhibition focuses on the “drawn” or linear aspects within their works and investigates the movements, both psychological and physical, and the changes and transformations made during the process of making art. The artists are predominantly painters and each has a unique method of working and exploring media, often bridging the gap between conscious and unconscious thought processes.
“I am trying to get to the ‘essence’ of a feeling, often referring to the landscape as a starting point; my interpretation of what we can see and what we can’t; the structure which underlies rhythms and movements both externally, and internally, stripped down and distilled to pure energy.”
“Representational and figurative forms are discovered and then abandoned through my art process. Sometimes all that remains is line or colour. This gradual abstraction reflects my interest in the human condition, and explores the psychological shifts within us”.
Anna Jung Seo
“I use line to travel along intuitive journeys. I may cross over and retrace my steps, revisit or abandon routes. These journeys are instinctual and multi layered and contain memory and possibility. No two are alike.”
The show will be hung in the same spirit in which it was made. The artists’ intention is to give an unusual insight into the various working processes that each may take and delve into how ideas are formed and transformed. This opens up the possibility to see variations within themes, how an artist’s mind works and the infinite possibilities within each.
“Drawing from Within” Part 1 is the first exhibition by this group of artists showing together and marks the start of their “inside out” vision of displaying art to the public.
